Visit the Farm

There are lots of different opportunities to visit the farm!

Whether you're coming for a workshop, a public event or a self-guided tour, visitors are always welcome. We encourage you to explore our website and find something that interests you!

Calypso Farm is an educational farm located in Ester, Alaska, offering hands-on education programs for all ages.

Situated on 30 acres, Calypso is also a working farm with approximately 3 acres in cultivation, growing fresh vegetables, herbs, seeds and flowers for the community. Sheep, goats, bees and chickens are integrated into the farm ecosystem - click here to learn more about our flock of Shetland sheep! We have an on-farm fiber studio as well as a blacksmith shop & woodshop.

Getting Here: Nestled in the boreal forest, Calypso is located about 20 minutes from Fairbanks. You can enter our address (4780 Old Nenana Highway) into Google Maps or follow these directions:

From Fairbanks, take the Parks Highway driving towards Ester/Anchorage. Turn right onto the Old Nenana Highway at Ester Gas. We are located 5 miles up the Old Nenana on the right - there is a hanging wooden sign marking our driveway.

After you turn in, our parking lot is straight ahead - located near the bottom of the driveway.

Self-Guided Tour

Our public events are a great way to experience the farm, however, visitors are also invited to come up and explore the farm on their own!

During the growing season (May-September), our open hours are typically Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. You're more than welcome to walk around, visit the animals and explore the fields. It's always a good idea to give us a call ahead of time in case we have an event or program happening that day.

We've created a self-guided tour pamphlet to help you navigate and learn about the farm as you wander. Download our Self-Guided Tour pamphlet here or pickup one up at the kiosk in our parking area.

If you're interested in a guided tour, please contact us for more information!

The Far North Quilt Trail

Established in Fairbanks in 2019 by Somer Hahm, the Far North Quilt Trail is Alaska's first barn quilt trail and a statewide scavenger hunt of public art. We are proud to display Hen and Chicks, quilt #18 on the trail!

Walk up the driveway to see it outside of the fiber studio, above the animal barn.

A huge thank you to Somer for creating these beautiful & accessible public art pieces and for including us on this project, and to Rasmuson Foundation for their funding support!

The Yurt is now available to book on Airbnb!

Available May-September, the Yurt is cozy, rustic and has a beautiful view of the seed garden. Perfect for people traveling to Fairbanks looking for a one-of-a-kind stay or local families who want a fun night “glamping” at the farm. View all of the details here.
