Farm Camp Youth Leadership Program

For youth entering 7th-12th grade, the Farm Camp Youth Leadership Program is a great way to get involved by volunteering as a junior counselor at our Farm Camps! Teens will have the opportunity to develop hands-on leadership and teamwork skills while assisting with camp activities and helping younger children. Click here for more information!

Other youth education programs include Farm Field Trips, Farm School and the Farm Discovery Program!

General Farm Camp Info & Policies

FLEXIBLE PICK-UP/DROP-OFF: To cut down on large groups gathering while checking campers in and out, drop off and pickup times will be a 30 minute window before camp begins and after camps end. For example, if camp begins at 9am, drop-off will be between 8:30-9am. If camp ends at 3pm, pickup will be between 3-3:30pm.

SMALL GROUP SIZES: To encourage individualized learning, inclusivity, and an overall better camp experience, it's important to us to keep group sizes small. Maximum enrollment varies per session but never goes over 21 campers, and kids will spend most of their time at camp in a group of 6-8 other students, plus 1-2 staff members.

*MEMBERSHIP: Members receive a discount on summer camps while also helping to fuel our education programs! You can become a member by making a donation of any amount on the camp registration page. Click here to learn more about membership.

PAY WHAT YOU CAN: Calypso’s “Pay What You Can” initiative is designed to support our friends and neighbors in need. Summer Camp registration is available on a Pay What You Can basis, up to 50% off. The funds available for Pay What You Can discounts are limited and it is our hope that those who need it most will be able to benefit. We ask that you keep the broader community in mind and if you’re able to pay in full, please do - your extra dollars will support someone who is unable to.

PAYMENT PLANS: Full payment is due at the time of your registration. If you need to pay in installments, please contact us before registering to set up a payment plan. Email christie@calypsofarm.org or call 907-451-0691.

SUMMER CAMP CANCELLATION POLICY: Despite our best efforts to ensure a safe season of Farm Camp, we know that COVID-19 will continue to impact and challenge us all. If you have strong concerns about the risk to the health and safety of your family, please err on the side of caution.

A $30 non-refundable deposit is included in the cost of all camps. For cancellations made at least 30 days prior to the start of camp, a refund will be given, minus the non-refundable deposit.

Should COVID-19 or any other circumstances require you to cancel your camp registration less than 30 days prior to the start of camp, the following options will be available:

    1. Refund: If we are able to fill your child’s spot in the camp session with another camper, we can offer a full refund, minus the non-refundable deposit.
    2. Donation: Registration fees can be turned into a tax-deductible donation and will directly support the development, operation, and sustainability of our education programs.

Should Calypso need to cancel a camp session due to COVID-19 or any other circumstance, registration fees will be refunded in full, including the $30 deposit.

COVID-19 INFORMATION: We know that it is likely that COVID-19 will continue to impact our communities over the coming year. We hope that if the situation improves over the summer we will be able to lessen our mitigation measures, when appropriate, and we will be monitoring the situation in Fairbanks carefully. However, until further notice, we will continue to practice COVID-19 safety precautions at all of our in-person programming this season, including summer camps. This includes:

    • All staff and youth participants who can safely wear a mask per CDC guidance will be required to wear a face mask during our programs, except during designated breaks and eating times. This includes campers!
    • Daily health-screening of campers at drop-off.
    • Practicing social distancing and emphasizing small group activities.
    • Holding all camp activities outside or in well-ventilated areas (such as under tents).
    • Encouraging frequent hand washing or sanitizing by all campers and staff.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing camp materials and spaces in between sessions.

As the COVID-19 pandemic is a continually evolving situation and our highest priority is keeping our community safe, we will do our best to communicate with camp families throughout the spring and summer to let you know of any changes to our programs or policies. We’re excited to welcome campers back on the farm this summer and thank you in advance for your understanding!
