Beginning Blacksmithing (Oct. 29th)

Learn to forge! In this introductory session, you’ll learn the basics of blacksmithing with a gas forge, as well as shop safety, hammering skills and the varied properties of steel. After creating S-hooks (drawing out, twisting and bending), you’ll move onto other blacksmithing fundamentals (squaring, drawing out a taper, rounding, basic scrolling, and punching) as we create a variety of J hooks.

This is a great introduction to blacksmithing and will get you on your way to exploring more project based classes!

This overview is a pre-requisite for all other blacksmithing classes at Calypso.
