Mini-Camps & Activity Days

Throughout the year we offer a variety of mini-camps for kids to explore life on the farm and in the forest, as well as single day activities on special topics like making art in the garden during summer or snowshoeing in the forest during winter.

3-Day Mini-Camps


  • Ages 7-11 (drop-off)

Through play-based learning and exploration, campers will explore life on the farm and in the surrounding forest. They'll meet the farm animals, learn about life in the boreal forest, help in the garden, play games, and much more!

Summer Activity Days

Herb-Themed Days

  • Ages 9-16 (drop-off)
  • Max number of kids per session: 10
  • Cost per session: $70 members/$85 non-members*

We're excited to offer Herb Days as an introduction to some of the incredible plants that grow here in our boreal ecosystem! Each session will include gathering and foraging, how to read herbal profiles, how to use plant ID guides, and a craft or two using the herbs we’ve gathered. Each session will be unique and can build off of the others if you choose to sign up for all three!

Art-Themed Days

Collaborative Art Day
June 7, 2024 | 9am-3pm
Kids will work together to create a nature-based group art project, inspired by the work of Andrew Goldsworthy! We'll come up with our idea as a group and then work together to create it with the wild materials we find on the farm and in the forest. The resulting creation will be something beautiful, temporary and completely one-of-a-kind.

Art in the Garden
July 11, 2024 | 9am-3pm

Kids will explore and create art in the garden! They'll participate in a variety of farm and forest-inspired art projects, including natural dyeing, flower pounding and wool crafts!

Natural Dyeing Day
July 26, 2024 | 9am-3pm
In this deep-dive into natural dying on the farm, kids will get to go through the whole process together, from harvesting dye plants to creating a dye pot! Kids are encouraged to bring something from home that they’d like to try dyeing!

The Collaborative Art and Art in the Garden sessions are open to Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. A sign language interpreter will be provided.

Forest & Flower Fairies
August 4, 2024 | 10am-4pm
Step into a land of flowers and fairies! Would you like to have a tea party in the garden, explore wings from the world around us, or pluck a flower and then recreate it using wool? There is no end to the magical things happening during this special fairy-themed day!

Join us with your preschooler for an exciting Pre-K Day! We'll get up close and curious with the incredible beings that live at the farm or in the garden, from the plants and tiny insects, all the way to the sheep! With plenty of sensory experiences and fun to have, this is a great way to introduce your little one to the magic of farm and garden life.

Please note that sessions are being offered both at Calypso Farm and the Georgeson Botanical Garden!

Babies in the Garden

Bring a pack, wrap, or your very strong arms and come enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the garden! Parents will explore the garden with the babies while finding something tasty to munch on, take a nature walk, make a wool craft, and meet the farm animals.

Baby cries? Let’s sit and watch bugs with them. Baby’s hungry? Now seems like a good time for a break. Let’s connect with other parents and enjoy a day in nature!

Littles in the Garden

  • Ages: 5-7 with accompanying parent/guardian*

Join us for a fun afternoon at the Botanical Garden! Through play-based learning and exploration, kids with get to explore life in the garden, from the growing plants to the tiny insects.

*Parents are welcome to stay with their kids for this session or drop-off, whatever is best for you!

General Info & Policies

*MEMBERSHIP: Members receive a discount on summer camps and some activity days while also helping to fuel our education programs! You can become a member by making a donation of any amount on the registration page. Click here to learn more about membership. 

PAY WHAT YOU CAN: Calypso’s “Pay What You Can” initiative is designed to support our friends and neighbors in need. Registration for mini-camps and special activity days is available on a Pay What You Can basis, up to 50% off. The funds available for Pay What You Can discounts are limited and it is our hope that those who need it most will be able to benefit. We ask that you keep the broader community in mind and if you’re able to pay in full, please do - your extra dollars will support someone who is unable to. Instructions on how to utilize a discount code are available on individual program registration pages.

HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES: To sign up using your homeschool allotment, you have two options:

  1. Register as normal and pay in full, then submit your receipt to your homeschool for reimbursement.
  2. For Summer Camps & Mini-Camps Only (excludes single-day sessions): If Calypso is a vendor with your homeschool, you can sign up online using the HOMESCHOOL coupon to pay a 25% down payment. This payment is refundable once full payment from your homeschool is received. Once we receive your registration, we will be in touch with more instructions. Calypso is a vendor with IDEA, BEST, FOCUS, Raven, and CyberLynx Homeschools.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

A $30 non-refundable deposit is included in the cost of all programs. If registration is less than $30 (for example: Pre-K Days), 50% of the program's registration fees are non-refundable.

For cancellations made at least 30 days prior to the start of a program, a refund will be given, minus the non-refundable deposit.

Should any circumstance require you to cancel your registration less than 30 days prior to the start date, the following options will be available:

    1. Possible refund: If we are able to fill your child’s spot in the program, we can offer a refund, minus the non-refundable deposit.
    2. Donation: Registration fees can be turned into a tax-deductible donation and will directly support our education programs.

Should Calypso need to cancel a program for any reason, registration fees will be refunded in full, including the $30 deposit.
