Anyone interested in learning more about the farm and sharing that knowledge with others is welcome!
ALL AGES! Youth, senior citizens, and everyone in between are encouraged to become guides, and families are encouraged to volunteer together! Ages 12 and under should be accompanied by a parent.
Availability: We are always in need of volunteers who are available on week-day mornings, which is when most of our field trips take place. This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for community members who are retired, homeschooled teens, college students, or homeschool families volunteering together!
If you aren't available during the week but are still interested in getting involved, please reach out! We also look for Farm Discovery Guides to help with our public events!

1. Sign up through our interest form below
2. Attend a Farm Discovery Guide volunteer training session*
3. Sign up to volunteer at our farm field trips or public events!
*Spring volunteer trainings will be held in April for Guides who are interested in volunteering during our 2023 spring and summer field trips. Another training will be scheduled in mid-August, before the fall field trip season starts!
Trainings are designed to provide Farm Guides with skills and information in a way which prepares them to share what they’ve learned with others. Topics covered at training include:
- Overview of Calypso Farm
- Farm Animals
- Farm & Forest Ecology
- Fiber Arts
- Tips & Tricks for hands-on education & working with youth
If Guides are interested in learning more about a specific farm topic like Honey Bees, Aquatic Insects, Gardening and more, additional training can be provided! If you already have a special skill you're excited to share related to fiber arts or farming, please let us know!
FALL 2023 DATES:
Note: You must attend a 3-hour training to become a Guide!
- Friday, August 18 | 9:00am-noon
Can’t make these training dates but still want to be involved? Please get in touch! Contact us through the form below, email info@calypsofarm.org or call us at 907-451-0691.

Become a Farm Guide!
In the early months of the pandemic, we created a series of fun & educational activity kits for families to explore together at home! Inspired by the themes of the Farm Discovery Program, these kits were created with elementary school ages in mind but include activities that the whole family can enjoy!
Each kit includes an informational booklet to start your journey, a craft, a game, an outdoor activity, a recipe, and a challenge to learn something new.
