Kale for Stone Soup!

Donate your freezer space! Breadline’s Stone Soup Cafe has been serving the Fairbanks community since 1984, serving free & nutritious breakfasts and sack lunches five days a week to those in need, an average of 28,000 meals per year.

Calypso wants to donate enough kale to last them through the winter and we need the help of YOUR freezer space!

Stone Soup can use about 3 two-gallon bags of kale per week, which equals about 84 bags from late October through early May. Do you have enough room in your freezer to store 1 or more bags? If so, scroll down to sign up!

When you sign up, you’ll choose between these pickup options:

1: Help harvest at the farm in Ester! Harvest as much kale as you can store:

· Wednesday, Sept. 15th | 10am – 12pm
· Wednesday, Sept. 15th | 5:30 – 6:30pm

2: Pickup at the Southside Community Farmers Market in South Fairbanks:

· Tuesday, Sept. 14th | 4-7pm
· Tuesday, Sept. 21st | 4-7pm

After you sign up, you’ll receive an email with a link to sign up for a date to DROP-OFF your kale at Stone Soup this winter. 3 bag drop offs will be scheduled each Monday from October to May. Breadline will be in touch with a reminder as your drop-off date approaches!

Important Note regarding COVID-19 & farm visits: In light of the rising cases statewide and the strain this puts on our very limited local healthcare system, all farm visitors are required to either be fully vaccinated OR provide proof of a negative COVID test sometime in the 48 hours prior to your visit. This policy only applies to those choosing to come harvest at the farm – NOT for those picking up from the Southside Market. All visitors to the farm and market will be required to wear a mask.
